Bel Air’s central location as the County seat has earned the Town the slogan as “The Heart of Harford,” with the various County and State agencies, regional medical facilities, shopping, entertainment and recreation opportunities conveniently placed within easy access for citizens of Harford County.  The Town’s excellent schools, safe and clean neighborhoods, and historic district add to its appeal for residents and businesses.

The Town government, business and residential communities, service organizations, and community groups are ready to welcome you and assist you in becoming acquainted with all that Bel Air has to offer in the way of goods and services, entertainment and recreation.  The historic past holds a promising tomorrow.

Bel Air offers a wide range of housing and cultural opportunities while maintaining a pleasant small town atmosphere. The Town takes pride in its’ community spirit.

The Town has a large number of free publications at both the Town Hall, 39 N. Hickory Avenue, and the Department of Planning and Public Works, 705 Churchville Road. Information is provided on the development approval process, business assistance, landscaping recommendations, and historic preservation, as well as parking guide, walking tours, and calendar of events. Each quarter the Town mails to every resident The Bel Air Bond newsletter.

The Bel Air branch of the Harford County Public Library is one of the largest of the County Library’s. The Learning and Sharing Center collection is housed in the Bel Air Branch along with the Library Store, a gift shop for all ages and meeting rooms that are available for private or corporate meetings.

Volunteering is often a great way to become familiar with a new community, meet the people who will be new neighbors, and learn about local activities, events and organizations. We encourage you to become involved in your community by volunteering.

Harford County Parks & Recreation, Bel Air Council sponsors a wide range of activities, programs and events for residents of all ages, including the Bel Air Community Band and the Bel Air Chorus. Parks and Recreation also sponsors the annual Bel Air Festival of the Arts, held on the third Sunday each September at Shamrock Park. Golf, lacrosse, baseball and soccer are more popular than ever and Parks and Recreation offers extensive opportunities for all ages to participate in classes and on teams at all skill levels.
